As you may have heard, this year is the wonderful Mrs. Mayer has retired this year ending her teaching career in the middle of the 2012-2013 school year. Because of her retirement, we have introduced a new teacher sponsor to our team. Mr. Hallowed is a music teacher at Northwest and he is here to make sure that we have a wonderful 2013 season.
Mr. Hollowed's Bio.
Degree: MA in Education, Music
Day Job: Elementary Strings Teacher; SMNW Orchestra Assistant
Why do you help with Robotics? I’m excited to support students putting science, math, and engineering knowledge to practical use. The creativity and ingenuity required for success is something we should all be celebrating. And I hope I can learn a thing or two along the way!
Bio: I am a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, completing a Master of Arts in Music Education degree in 2010. During the Spring 2010 semester, I student taught at SMNW, under the supervision and mentorship of Jeffrey Bishop. This is my second year teaching in Shawnee Mission.
For 10 years, I was a volunteer assistant and later a teacher, in my home school district in suburban Chicago, working with all levels of elementary string players, from beginners up through 8th Graders. I also taught private lessons for orchestra students up through high school seniors.
I was a lifelong resident of suburban Chicago before moving to Shawnee Mission. I am thrilled to be here!
