Awards that FIRST Offers

Throughout the robotics season certain awards are available for teams, mentors, and members. With these awards comes recognition by the FIRST Organization as well as recognition by outside companies. These awards are held in high esteem by many engineering organizations and are very prestigious in the robotics world. Thanks to our own member Courtney Hendrick, we are able to share some details about each award and the process one goes about achieving them. FIRST Dean's List

Team 1511- 2010
The FIRST Dean's List is an award for students who have participated wholeheartedly throughout the Robotics build season. These awards go to students who have increased Robotics awareness in their schools as well as achieving personal technical techniques

Chairman's Award

Team 246- 2011
This award goes to a FIRST Robotics Team that has shown excellence in spreading the message of the FIRST Organization. This award is very prestigious and is only awarded to very few teams every year. 

Woodie Flowers Award

Bob Stark- 2011
Woodie Flowers Award is an award meant for the mentors of a team. It recognizes effective communications in the fields of art, design, and engineering. Dissected into two sub-categories, students can submit mentors of their own team for the award.

Entrepreneurship Award

This award recognizes specific teams who have excelled in the fields of buisness. Through developed buisness planning and effective use of management skills this team encourages the idea of self-sustaining teams.

Engineering Inspiration Award
The Engineering Inspiration Award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as their community.

Founder’s Award
The Founder’s Award is presented each year by FIRST Founder, Dean Kamen, to one organization or individual for exceptional service in advancing the ideals and mission of FIRST.

Coopertition™ Award 
The Coopertition™ Award Celebrates the team that best demonstrates the greatest level of Coopertition™ during the event, based on their performance on the field.

Creativity Award sponsored by Xerox
The Creativity Award celebrates creative design, in process, execution, or via a creative or unique strategy of play.  It is focused on a feature or features of the machine or development process.
Engineering Excellence Award sponsored by Delphi
The Engineering Excellence Award celebrates an elegant and advantageous machine feature or features. This award recognizes any aspect of engineering elegance that reinforces the principles of FIRST.

Entrepreneurship Award sponsored by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers
The Entrepreneurship Award celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit and recognizes a team which has developed a comprehensive business plan in order to define, manage, and achieve team objectives.  This team displays entrepreneurial enthusiasm and the vital business skills to ensure a self-sustaining program.
