Our time over the two weeks, though miscalculated, has been spent primarily on the creation of highly effective prototypes. Although it seems that we've encountered a slight delay, our abundant reserve of functional proposals pave the way for quick and simple construction with less uncertainty of each canidate component. Our team has redistributed members to focus on separate priorities for robot construction and has returned to maximum efficiency. Our game strategy has been revised to compensate for the hard deadline but will still maintain significance on the playing field.

If you are a student participating in the 9am-5pm meeting today, be sure you have a plan for lunch today. We don't have parents bringing in lunch today, so students are in charge of finding their own lunch at around noon. If any student can't supply their own lunch, contact team captain Charlie Schmidt or webmaster Jenna Septer. Thank you! Contact info can be found on the Contact Us page.
So far, our marketing and communications team has done a lot with outreach. We have been able to pitch our team to multiple Rotary clubs in the area, as well as beginning to start our outreach to the younger generations. With excellent marketing skills and mentors, we will be able to spread the word of robotics to as many places as we can. We have also been very successful in our programming team. We have been able to program our robot and the task at hand now is to put together the electrical and mechanical aspects of our robot. We have used our time very wisely here on the team and are ready for weeks four, five, and six.
As you may have heard, this year is the wonderful Mrs. Mayer has retired this year ending her teaching career in the middle of the 2012-2013 school year. Because of her retirement, we have introduced a new teacher sponsor to our team. Mr. Hallowed is a music teacher at Northwest and he is here to make sure that we have a wonderful 2013 season. Mr. Hollowed's Bio.Degree: MA in Education, Music Day Job: Elementary Strings Teacher; SMNW Orchestra Assistant Why do you help with Robotics? I’m excited to support students putting science, math, and engineering knowledge to practical use. The creativity and ingenuity required for success is something we should all be celebrating. And I hope I can learn a thing or two along the way! Bio: I am a graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, completing a Master of Arts in Music Education degree in 2010. During the Spring 2010 semester, I student taught at SMNW, under the supervision and mentorship of Jeffrey Bishop. This is my second year teaching in Shawnee Mission. For 10 years, I was a volunteer assistant and later a teacher, in my home school district in suburban Chicago, working with all levels of elementary string players, from beginners up through 8th Graders. I also taught private lessons for orchestra students up through high school seniors. I was a lifelong resident of suburban Chicago before moving to Shawnee Mission. I am thrilled to be here!

So far in the year, the website has gone through so many phases to help make sponsoring and sponsorship itself successful. But we have completely neglected actually helping out the team members with the website. Here you can find any thing you need to know about what is going on with the team. If you have any quick questions, just post a comment and we will get back to you as soon as possible
